Robert O. Bates
A service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001, in Willamette National Cemetery for Robert O. Bates, who died May 18 at age 64. Mr. Bates was born May 18, 1937, in Douglas, Ariz. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Vernonia in 1950 and was a logger until retiring in 1995. He moved to Prineville in July 2000. In 1959, he married Judy Fetherston.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Douglas R. and H. Dwayne; brother, William T.; sister, Neddie Kittenger; and five grandchildren.
