BABBITT, Robert 1949-2008 Robert "Bob" Babbitt passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 26, 2008, from a sudden diagnosis of liver and abdominal cancer at age 59. Bob was born in Portland on Jan. 14, 1949. He lived in Garden Home until moving to Hillsboro when he married Sonya Scovil in December 1986. Bob loved motorcycles, animals, books, and Sonya, the order is debatable. He has three motorcycles, dogs, cats and alpacas and a room full of books. Plumbing is in his blood. He is a fourth generation plumber. Bob was one of the best service plumbers in the business. There was rarely a problem he couldn't solve. He tried a few other occupations - car mechanic, herb grower - but found plumbing to be his calling. Bob and Sonya owned Bob's Reedville Plumbing for the last 10 years, changing to Ben Franklin Plumbing in the last year. Bob went to Beaverton High School and then enlisted in the Army where he served in Viet Nam as a helicopter mechanic. He is the son of George and Mae Babbitt; brother of Steven Babbitt and Carole Willing; uncle to several nieces and nephews; and recently, honorary grandpa to Logan. Bob also has many brothers and sisters-in-law; a mother-in-law; aunts and uncles; friends; and extended family that love him very much. He was preceded in death by his sister, Twanda. Bob's spirit was loving and kind on this earth and continues to be. He will be so very missed. His spirit and energy will help to make the world a better more loving place. No service at Bob's request. Honor his life as you choose. Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits. Published in The Oregonian on 8/31/2008
