BIBB, Mary C. Mary went home to be with our Lord on September 27, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She was born on a homestead near Golva, North Dakota to Leo and Josephine (Rising) Kremers on June 6, 1923. She often told stories of walking many miles to the one-room schoolhouse, leading her younger brothers and sister through all kinds of weather. As a girl, "Mamie" was known for her lanky athleticism and reportedly even out-ran the boys. She graduated from Golva High School, married, and raised three children. She worked for the Ursuline Convent and School in Moscow, Idaho for six years, cooking for large groups from dawn to dusk. Upon moving to Spokane, WA, she worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center where she received the Housekeeper of the Year award. She retired in 1992 after 30 years of service. Throughout her life, she has also volunteered generously with many local organizations, including Legion of Mary and various Catholic Charity activities, Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, Morning Star Boys Ranch, and her weekly quilting group where she helped turn scraps of cloth into free quilts for charities for years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish for 45 years. Mary was a woman of peace, simplicity, and faith who was deeply devoted to her family.
