BAKER, Karen J. May 1951 - July 10, 2007

Rev. Karen J. Baker succumbed after a verycourageous
four and a half year battle with colon cancer. Karen
Baker was born in 1951 in Salinas, California and
spent all but three years of her life there and on the
Monterey Peninsula, having recently relocated to
Spokane, WA. Karen was a self-employed certified
financial planner for the last 13 years, having worked
in the banking industry prior to that. Karen was a
2003 graduate of The School for Deacons in Berkeley,
California and was anordained deacon in the Episcopal
Church. Serving the church and community was one of
her passions. Her other passion was scuba diving,
having been a certified diver for over 20 years, and
loved diving the warm waters of the Caribbean. Karenis
survived by her husband of 32 years, Jon; herchildren
Aaron and Kirsten; and three grandchildren: Nicholas,
Evelyn and Holly, all of Spokane; and a sister Linda
of Bolivar, Missouri. A Memorial Service and
celebration of her life will be held at St. Stephen's
Episcopal Church, 57th Ave. andPerry St., Spokane on
Friday, July 20, 2007 at 1:30 PM. The family requests
donations to Hospice of Spokane in lieu of flowers.
