| Louis M. Byrd, 72, of Hermiston, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston. |

| Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston. |
| Mr. Byrd was born Feb. 13, 1928, at Birch Tree, Mo. He had been a resident of the Hermiston area for the past 50 years and had been employed at Marlette Homes and by Union Pacific Railroad. |
| He enjoyed gardening, was a ham radio operator, enjoyed working on small engines, building windmills and woodworking. |
| Survivors include his wife, Marie of Hermiston; sons, Melvin of Hammond, Ore., Lee of Stanfield, and Stanley of Paterson, Wash.; daughters, Julia Widmar and Pearl Cason, both of Hermiston, Toni Emerson of Irrigon, and Sunday Dyer of Heppner; sisters, Lovine Terrabochia of Astoria, and Blanche Campbell of Lake Oswego; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, George, and a brother, John. |
