Robert Marshall Binford
Memorial service for Robert Marshall Binford will be 2 p.m. in the
chapel at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston. Disposition is to be by
cremation.
Mr. Binford, 79, of Hermiston, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at Good
Shepherd Medical Center.
He was born May 4, 1921, at Grant City, Mo., to Charles R. and Blanch
Marshall Binford.
He served with the Third Army under General George Patton during
World War II.
Mr. Binford was an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years,
retiring in 1986. He came to Hermiston 24 years ago from The Dalles.
He was a member of VFW Desert Post 4750 and last year received his 50-
year pin from the post, he was also a member of the Eagles and the
Elks lodges in Hermiston.
On June 22, 1981, he married Marie M. McCabe at Pendleton.
As a young person, Mr. Binford attended the Episcopal Church.
He loved his family, friends, his little dogs, going hunting, fishing
and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Marie, of Hermiston;
children, Robert J. Binford and Diana Hammond, both of Portland, and
Debra Brewer of Sun Valley, Nev.; stepchildren, Richarf McCabe of
Milton-Freewater, Dale McCabe of Albuquerque, N.M., and Susan Kalotay
of Portland; 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a
sister, Mary Hawkins of Portland. He was preceded in death by a baby
son, by his parents, brother, Herbert, and sisters, Alice Binford and
Fern Kay.
