John Barnett "Big John" John passed away on April 9, 2000 and he was born on November 1, 1961 in Oroville, CA. Where to start, is where it ends- the man who was all heart has passed beyond; although his physical self is gone, his presence will always be where he wanted to reach- our hearts. If ever there was a lesson to be taught or a good story to be told, this man had the skill to do so in such a way that only the ones who love him will forever begin to understand. Big John, as most of us know him, would put up a fight until the end and laugh in the face of on-coming problems. Such a strong willed, intimidating, brick wall of a person was made complete the day he met Cathy, his common law wife; for the last 3 years he had found his pot of gold in the form of a wife and son. Survivors include common law wife Catherine Elliott and son Dougie; mother Barbara Buchman; father Charles W. Barnett; 4 brothers, all of Tacoma: Charles Barnett, Vernon Buchman, Roger Buchman and Elvin Buchman; 2 sisters, Victoria Buchman of Tacoma, Deanna Miller of Gig Harbor; and several nieces and nephews. A viewing for John will be Sunday, April 16, 2000 from 11am till 9pm at Mountain View Funeral Home. Services will be held in Mountain View Valley Chapel on Monday, April 17, 2000 at 2:00 PM.
