| Janet Burdelle Avera was born in Santa Monica, CA on February 1, 1922, to Thomas Fulton Staley and Vivian Botting Staley. Mom attended Holy Cross Academy in Washington D.C. and graduated from New Trier Township High School in Winnetka, IL. She attended college at the University of IL in Champaign, IL, and also, the University of MN, and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. During WWII, mom worked at the 29 Palms Marine Base, and then went to work for the Boeing Aircraft Company as a draftsman. After the war, mom worked for the Corp of Engineers at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. She also worked for the U.S. Navy on Guam, and as a government contractor in Las Vegas, NV. Mom eventually settled in the "Bay area", and worked for Kaiser Hospital in Oakland, CA, at the Ear, Nose and Throat clinic until retirement. Then, she moved back up to the Seattle, WA area where she had spent her childhood. Mom was a selfless woman that dedicated her life to her children and family. Her kindness and warmth did not end with her children. It also extended to her many friends. There are many out there that considered her a second mom. Mom was preceeded in death by her daughter, Sara Avera Decann, and is survived by her children, Mark and Linda Webster of Redmond; David and Isabelle Webster of Paradise, CA; Renee and Don Burk of Anchorage, AKA; Steve Avera of Anchorage, AKA; and Dale and Debi Avera of Redmond. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Phil Decann; daughter-in-laws, Ilona Marken and Susan Webster; sister, Beverly Goucher of Mercer Island,13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews, and 1 niece. Mom left a wonderful legacy and is now experiencing the joy of her personal relationship with Jesus Christ in Heaven. We love you mom. A Celebration Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sat., Aug. 23rd, at Chapel of the Resurrection Funeral Home, located on the grounds of Cedar Park Church, 16300 112th Ave NE, Bothell |
