| ATKINSON, Cora "Marie" (Age 101) April 5, 1905 - December 13, 2006 Cora "Marie" Atkinson died peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2006. She was 101. She was born on April 5, 1905, in Alba, Missouri, to Vie and Clarence Fox. Marie married Lloyd Atkinson in Spokane in 1924. She is survived by her son, George (Patty) Atkinson and two daughters, Jackie Tubbs and Ginny (Greg) Shaw from the Tri-Cities as well as 13 grandkids, 32 great-grandkids, and 14 great-great-grandkids. Her family will miss her sense of humor, her strength and independence. Marie had a deep love for her family which showed in the loving way she would just listen. Whenever she gave advice, it was only filled with love and compassion. Growing up, she was the glue that held her family together. Marie moved over 100 times in her lifetime; yet, every place she lived she called home. She loved to crochet afghans and has made over 1,000 afghans for family members and friends. She also had a talent for entertaining with her beautiful voice and skillful hands on the piano. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Royal Park Care Center. Thank you for taking such good care of our Mom and Grandma. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her daughter, Patricia Lykins; son-in-law, Archie Tubbs; and granddaughter, Debi Crossley. At Marie's request, there will be no formal service; however, a private graveside service will be held in the Spring. Dec 17, 2006 Spokesman-Review |
