| ANDERSON, Lola Mae Passed away peacefully July 15, 2007. Born onOctober 2, 1921 in San Bernadino, California the oldest of nine children. She moved to Spokane in 1953, where she worked as a nurse at Rivercrest Nursing Home and later cared for geriatricpatients at Eastern State Hospital until she retired. Lola was preceded in death by her life partner Don "Donny" Himes on March 6, 2003. They had a wonderful time traveling the United States, being snowbirds, and serving coffee and cookies at area rest stops. Lola and Don were associated with the Boy Scouts of America and also long-time members of the Telephone Pioneers. They helped renovate an old school house which became the Port Walla Walla Museum, where historic telephone memorabilia are on display. Lola also started "Love In Every Stitch" in 1990 which makes caps, mittens and scarves. The project was started tocoincide with the "Koats For Kids" project sponsored by KXLY. Lola is survived by daughtersKatherine Oien of Spokane and Marian Kimball of Kennewick, WA; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother.
