Donald Arden ANDERSEN March 10, 1926 - December 10, 2006 Born in Centralia, Wa. to Hans and May Andersen. Don joined the Navy at 17, serving in the Pacific during WWII, and in Korea. At one time he was the youngest Chief Yoeman in the entire Navy. Met LaVerne (Lee) Powell in Seattle and Married in 1948. After being stationed in Hawaii, and then San Francisco, they returned home to Seattle after 18 years. Upon returning they opened the Turbulent Turtle Restaurant on Seaview Avenue at Shilshole, and University Village. Don and Lee also owned The Roof Garden Restaurant and Town & Country Catering, both in Everett. Making the best quality and best tasting food was a life long passion for both of them. After the passing of his wife, Don moved to Loyal Heights Manor, where he found a community of wonderful, loving friends that helped make that home for him for 7 years. Don was preceded in death in 1973 by his son, Bob, and in 1999 by his wife, Lee. Don is survived by his sister, Patricia (Dallas) Unwin, nephew, Marty (Judy), niece, Susan (Bill), daughters, Kathleen Andersen, and Peggie (Brian) Simon. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Courtney, Alexander, Camila (Aguirre) and Emily, Sydney and Erik (Simon) and 2 great grandchildren: Oliver and Amalia. Kent, John, Diane, and so many more good, loving friends will miss him. He was such a nice guy! Celebration of his Life tentatively set for January 2, 2007 at Loyal Heights Manor in Ballard.
