Melvin Jacob ARCHAMBEAU

Passed away 21 October 2003 in Ellensburg, Washington. He was 99 years
old. He was born near Geyserville, California on 19 Nov. 1903. The son of
Jacob and Jane Archambeau. He spent his first 14 years on a homestead at the
foot of Mt. Lassen. He attended high school in Santa Rosa, California. He
joined the U.S. Coast Guard and saw duty along the Pacific Coast. During the
1920's he served as Chief Boat-swain mate on the old cutters, traveling to
Alaska with doctors and dentists to treat people in the Arctic. He was an
expert marksman and was assigned as a shooting instructor for Federal Law
Officers for six years. At the start of World War II he was assigned as Captain
of the Port of Honolulu to supervise the handling of explosives and
ammunition for the South Pacific. After the war he retired to a ranch in
Enumclaw. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Edith
Archambeau. He is survived by his son David Archambeau (Ginny),
Grandsons David Jr. (Kim), Doug (Kathy), Granddaughter Debbie (Chris). He
also leaves four great-grandchildren. Graveside Services on Tuesday, October
28 at 11 a.m. at the Enumclaw Cemetery.
