Voellm, Shirlee Dianne 59 12/02/1950 07/25/2010 Shirlee Dianne Voellm, a resident of Happy Valley, died July 25, 2010, in Portland at age 59. Born Dec. 2, 1950, in Whittier, Calif., to Thurman and Bette (Riley) Archer, Dianne attended Leffingwell Elementary School as a child and graduated with honors from La Serna High School in 1968 where she was a cheerleader. Immediately after high school, she enrolled in Whittier Business School where she bettered her business skills. Dianne started out as a secretary and later went to work as a clerk for Rohm and Haas Chemical Company in the Hayward, Calif., office. It was there that she met and fell in love with Sigurd Voellm, an environmental compliance officer who was transferred from Philadelphia. They were married May 1977 in San Francisco, and they enjoyed 33 years of companionship and friendship together. In the early 1990s, Dianne and Sigurd moved to Oregon, settling in Happy Valley. Dianne worked as an insurance agent in Portland until retirement. Her beloved Sigurd preceded her in death just this past March and she remained in Happy Valley until her passing on Sunday. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Gresham. Dianne and Sigurd were simply in love. They enjoyed spending time with each other and being together. They traveled the world, visiting Europe and Asia and also made time to take weekend hikes throughout Oregon and Washington. They had other hobbies that occupied them as well. While Sigurd was enjoying a game of golf or enjoying his woodworking pastime, Dianne could be found in their garden, sewing, or doing crafts. They also loved their animals. Dianne and Sigurd had a special bond as husband and wife; they were also best friends. Time together was their greatest hobby, and now they are together forever. They will remain forever in our hearts. Dianne is survived by her parents, Thurman "Lee" and Bette Archer; brother, Howard "Gene" Archer; stepchildren, Eric Voellm and Shannon Voellm; sisters-in-law, Monika Voellm Deitchman and husband, Carl; Linde Voellm Eidenberg and husband, Peter; and Elisabeth Voellm Hagans and husband, Rex; grandchildren, Izabele and Katy Voellm, nephew, Christopher Archer; and great-nephew, Tristan Archer. Her husband, Sigurd, preceded her in death March 12, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Gresham. Private entombment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Oregon Humane Society or Trinity Lutheran Church. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
