| Margaret Louise "Maggie" Alecknavage-Rust, a 45-year resident of Anchorage, died in her home July 20, 2010. She was 46. |
| A memorial service for Maggie will be at 4 p.m. today at Elderberry Park. |
| Maggie was born Aug. 22, 1963, in Apple Valley, Calif.. She was the daughter of Karen and Joseph Alecknavage of Wasilla, and Wiiiam and Joyce Rust of Idaho. |
| Maggie graduated from SAVE High School in 1981. She was continually inspired by music and was a gifted photographer and poet. She worked for a time as an EMT II and volunteered for the Willow Fire Department. Her favoite job was working with the street community, who later became her second family. |
| Maggie had an abundant heart and a vibrant, child-like spirit that inspired all who came into contact with her. She had a way of bringing laughter with her wherever she went. Maggie loved her family, her community and her cats above all else. She will be missed. |
| She is survived by her parents; daughter, Tiana Burgess Jones of Katy, Texas; son, Keith Burgess of Anchorage; grandchildren, Kyler, Mia, Ashten and Aniya, all of Texas; brothers, James Rust of California and Dana Alecknavage of Texas; sister, Antoinette Otten of Anchorage; nephews and nieces, Aaron of California, Adam, Danny, Gavin and Graham of Texas, Joe and Dane of Anchorage, Joselyn of Arizona, and Madelyn of Wasilla; as well as many other family niemoers: and friends. |
| The family asks that any donations be made in her name to any animal shelter or to Bean's Cafe. |
