| Taylor, Geraldine Barbara Geraldine Barbara "Gerri" Taylor took off on her final flight on July 24, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Gerri was born in Nogales, Arizona to the late Richard Taylor and Connie Marie Taylor, a valiant member of The Women's Air Corps during WWII. During her Mother's WWII service, Gerri and her sister "Patsy" continued to live with their beloved maternal grandparents, Nellie and Jim Kearney. Gerri attended Sts. Peter and Paul School and was a proud graduate of Salpointe Catholic High School. Gerri attended the University of Arizona and joined Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Gerri inherited an indomitable spirit, fearlessness, love of God and Country, thanks to her mother's legacy and the Taylor family tradition which includes a Civil War Medal of Honor Awardee. Gerri dreamed of travel, service and adventure which led to her career as a flight attendant for American Airlines. Gerri was richly gifted with intelligence, courage, humor, conviction and great beauty along with trademark stubbornness. During the last months of her life, she took comfort in the safe loving care of her close family members. There were more laughs than tears during Gerri's final days as memories, love, faith, hope and peace were shared together. This extraordinary woman is honored in the UA Women's Plaza of Honor acknowledging her accomplishments as well as those of other generations of Taylor Women. Gerri is survived by her sisters, Patricia Taylor and Nancy Campbell and family, sister-cousins, Jamalle Simon and Maxine May and her husband, Chuck Garcia and other numerous cousins of the Hughes, Hock, Karam, Saldamando and Taylor families. We will continue to love and care for Kelsi, her Westie. We give thanks to Donald Brooks, M.D. her Oncologist, her Physical Therapist Katie, and Casa de La Luz Hospice for their professional and compassionate care. Per her wishes, a Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel located at 8090 N. Northern Avenue in Tucson, AZ. A private Service will be held at the Kearney-Taylor family plot in the Nogales, Arizona Cemetery at a later date. Gerri, may you now fly the skies forever.
