Eurich, Dixie Louise Tarrant

82 08/18/1927 06/23/2010 Dixie was born in Ash Grove, Mo.,
to Robert Tarrant and Amanda (Nichols) Tarrant. Following the
loss of a son in the South Pacific, her father moved the family
to Vancouver to work in the Kaiser Shipyards. After the war,
the family remained in Vancouver. Dixie graduated from
Vancouver High School in 1945. In 1946 she left for Wayland
Baptist College in Texas. Graduating two years later with an
Associate of Arts degree, she returned to Vancouver where she
began an almost 15-year career with Pacific Northwest Bell.
She married Jerry Eurich in 1954, and they made their home in
Vancouver while he finished his schooling. They moved to
Ashland in 1956. Seven years later they returned to the
Portland area, and Dixie entered Portland State University to
finish her schooling and began her second career as a
kindergarten and second-grade teacher. She taught the last 14
years at Milwaukie Elementary School in Milwaukie, prior to
retiring in 1985. In 2009 they moved back to Vancouver. Dixie
and Jerry's daughter, Susan Eurich Martel (Laurent), was born in
Vancouver in 1956. Susan now makes her home in Bellingham,
Wash. Their daughter, Sara Beeson (Matthew), was born in
Ashland in 1963. Sara now makes her home in Astoria. Dixie
adored her three grandsons, Alex, Benjamin, and Cole Beeson.
After a 30-year bout with Parkinson's disease, Dixie died at
home surrounded by her family and passed peacefully into the
arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be at
11 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, in Hinson Memorial Baptist
Church, Southeast 20th Avenue and Salmon Street. The family
wishes to thank the Kaiser hospice team for the loving care
they gave our Dixie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests
contributions to the Hinson Mission Fund or Parkinson's
Resources of Oregon.
