| Dakan, Betty Ann Betty Ann Dakan peacefully passed on Saturday June 26, 2010 at her home in Caldwell. Betty Ann Dakan was born on Dec. 30, 1943 in Phoenix, Ariz. to Thelma Cozene Taylor and Eugene Taylor. She never got to meet her father, until now, because he was killed during WWII. She was raised by her mother and her aunt Carrie in Phoenix, Ariz. They moved around the northwest, living with many aunts until finding a home in the Treasure Valley. Betty Ann graduated from Caldwell High and attended BJC. She met Jim Dakan on her birthday in 1963 on Brundage Mountain. They married on April 11th, 1964 in Caldwell. They raised three wonderful children; Shannon, Rich and Heather. She worked as a dental assistant in Caldwell, until they moved to Phoenix, Ariz. After moving back to Caldwell she worked at the Dakan Funeral Chapel for a few years and taught swimming lessons before settling in as a full-time mother. Betty loved to travel. She visited many places all over the world, including; Europe, South America, Asia although her favorite places to go were to the Oregon Coast and Hawaii. She liked fishing, camping, golfing, painting, seashell hunting, water sports, tennis, Neil Diamond, free apples, the slot machines, gardening, hunting the wild asparagus, and her favorite holiday Christmas. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Boise. She loved spending time with her grandchildren Shawnie, Lane, Carleigh and Taylor. She loved talking to her best friend Connie Jean on a daily basis for 50 years. She is survived by her loving and caring husband Jim Dakan of Caldwell; her daughters Shannon Dakan and Heather Dakan, and her son Rich (Melinda) Dakan, and four grandchildren Shawnie Dakan, Lane LaCrone, Carleigh LaCrone and Taylor Dakan. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday July 2nd and the Dakan Funeral Chapel. Following the incryptment a reception will be held at the Peckham center next to the Dakan Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society .
