Watts-Hatcher, Madeline

Born in McKeesport, Pa., on February 6, 1938, and raised in
Clairton, Pa., Madeline accepted Christ at an early age at
Gethsemane Church of God in Christ. She peacefully went to
glory on June 26, 2010, after a courageous battle with breast
cancer. Preceded in death by her parents Charles L. and
Elizabeth Thomas Smith and her sisters Ella Hollis and LaVerne
Moore. She earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from
California State University, Sacramento, and had a teaching
career that spanned over 25 years in different areas of
education. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh,
generous giving nature, and her passion for teaching,
witnessing to others, and life's mission of working with the
Children's Ministry at New Testament Baptist Church, where
she was a member for many years. Survived by her loving
husband Raymond Hatcher of Roseville, Calif.; sister Charlotte
Brown of Cleveland, Ohio; children Madella Watts of Shingle
Springs, Calif., Monsieur Watts (Jerve) of Atlanta, Ga., Lena
Watts (Ron Hawthrone) of Roseville, Calif., and Daniel Watts
(Margaret) of Roseville; grandchildren Tariq and Xavier Watts
and Isaiah and Isaac Hawthrone; stepsons Darnell, Wayne,
Duwayne, Raymond Jr, and Bryan (Sharon) Hatcher;
stepdaughter Patricia Hatcher-Jones (Thomas), and many
loving family and friends. Friends are welcome to attend a
graveside service on Tuesday, July 6, at 12:30 p.m. at
Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road,
Dixon, and a memorial service at 4 p.m. at New Testament
Baptist Church, 6746 - 34th Street, North Highlands. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to Carrie's Touch, 372 Florin
