| Willekens, Mary Guerra Ph.D Dr. Willekens passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2010 - but she lived with all the energy and passion of a life well spent. She was born 11/11/1930 in Superior Arizona and that was the community she loved the most. At 16 years old, she opened her own business, Mary's Cradle Shop in Superior to raise money for college. She attended the UofA and met her husband, Rene' there. She was and always will be an avid UofA fan - but her love will always be for René. She was a teacher for over 20 years with most of her career at Madison Meadows with a passion for teaching children. During this time she had four of her own children, Michael, Debbie, Julie, and René. Her desire to do more resulted in her obtaining a Ph.D. at ASU, so she could further innovations in teaching. She served as an administrator of Title VII in bilingual education for the Phoenix Elementary School District. To know Mary was to be part of the party, from cheering for Lute Olsen and the team, to large family celebrations, she was the center of fun. She will be missed by her husband Rene', 4 children & 6 grandchildren, by her sister Betty Schull, and brother Frank Guerra, and by her large extended family and friends. Please join us in remembrance and the celebration of her life at 6 PM, 6/10/2010, Al Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W Bethany Home Rd. with a Rosary at 7 PM. Funeral and graveside services will begin at 10 AM on 6/11/2010, at St Francis of Assisi, 490 Main St. in Superior, Arizona, 85173. If you wish, donations to the church or to her favorite school - Superior School District (1500 Sunset Drive, Suite 101, Superior AZ 85173), may be made in lieu of flowers.
