Bosler, Robert Leland Robert Leland "Bob" Bosler, 77, of Reno, NV, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2010 at an extended care facility in Reno. A native Nevadan, Bob was born March 15, 1932 and was raised in Reno, graduating from Reno High School in 1951. After graduation, Bob joined the U.S. Naval Reserve at Point Magu, CA. Bob's intense love of flying led him to pursue a private pilots license and to purchase a Taylor Craft airplane. After his discharge from the Navy, Bob returned to Reno and worked at Nevada Air Products Company, where he met the love of his life, Ruth Carpenter- Robeson. The two were married on December 26, 1955. In 1970, Bob began employment at the Original Harrah's Auto Collection, in the Aircraft and Boat Division. Bob was fortunate to be one of a select few to work for Bill Harrah, on Mr. Harrah's personal Thunderbird boat, as well as being involved in the famous restoration process of Mr. Harrah's Ford Tri-Motor Airliner. This was one of Bob's most proudest achievements. The Ford Tri-Motor Airliner, dubbed by the press as the "Tin Goose," was the airplane upon which almost the entire passenger airline system of the United States was built. Bob played an integral part in restoring the Ford Model 5-AT-B Serial No. 8, which was built in 1928, to its original factory condition. This several-year-project underwent a week of testing in Reno before going into service in a nostalgic playback of aviation history. Thereafter, Trans World Airlines utilized the aircraft in the promotion of its new 747 service. After the Reno Harrah's Auto Collection closed it's doors, Bob then became employed at Harrah's downtown Reno property in the maintenance department. Bob worked for Harrah's a total of 25 years, before retiring in 1995. In recollection, Bob's family lovingly remembers him as being extremely generous, irritatingly meticulous, a lover of the Big Band era of music, being the best good neighbor on his street and a brilliant precision welder. Family and friends always looked forward to the annual Bosler summer vacations at Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe. In addition to his love of family and friends, Bob is remembered by all who knew him, for his extreme love of dogs and compassion for all animals. In his earlier years, Bob and Ruth bred and raised St. Bernards. Bob was very proud of his two Shih Tzu's, Kirby and Taffy, and looked forward to their visits at his care facility. Bob is survived by Ruth, his wife of 55 years; sons Randy Robeson and Greg Bosler (Tamara Lyde); daughter, Kaye Pecorino; grandsons Nick Mordenti, Chris Mordenti, and Daniel Pecorino; great grand-daughter, Sydney Mordenti, all of Reno, and brother, Edward Bosler of Walnut Creek, CA. Truckee Meadows Cremation and Burial is in charge of arrangements. No public service is planned. In lieu of flowers, please remember Bob's charitable kindness towards animals by making donations to the Humane Society of Northern Nevada. "I've never known any human being, high or humble, who ever regretted, when nearing life's end, having done kindly deeds to precious animals." Published in Reno Gazette-Journal on February 24, 2010
