MacGilvray, Rolland L. "Ron Parry" (Professional name: Ron Parry), age 71, died February 18, after a short illness. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent many years in LA, Palm Springs and Phoenix. Having a strong family background in music, he decided to go to Hollywood.. Soon he was invited to join the Julie London show. With a revival of interest in the Big Band era, the Modernaires of Glenn Miller fame, recruited Ron. They toured extensively through the U.S. and Canada. He later worked with The Town Pipers, The Four Preps, The Pied Pipers, The Tommy Dorsey band, The Coconut Grove with Al Martino, and The Andy Williams Show. Ron has done many TV shows: The Tonight Show, Merv Griffin, not to mention The Dating Game (and was the chosen bachelor) Ron continued singing, ending up in Phoenix, where he has been active performing throughout the area. He was married to his wife Susie for 25 years. Other family members are: sons Scott and Michael; grandchildren Josh, Jessie, Tucker and Dylan; sisters Judy Lyon and Barbara Foster and mother Dorothy Safreed. An opportunity to celebrate Ron's life is scheduled for this Wednesday, February 24, at 3:00 PM. at Sweet Rustic Grill, 15472 N. 99th St., Sun City, AZ.
