Sandoval, Michael Gallego

Michael Gallego Sandoval Loving husband, father and
grandfather went to be with our Lord on February 10, 2010.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Victoria Sandoval.
He will be missed by his beloved wife of 32 years, Gayle
Sandoval; his sons, Gene Sandoval (Julie), Steve Sandoval
and daughters, Patricia Taylor (John) and Selina Sandoval,
as well as his stepsons, Todd (Laurie) Barnhart and Bruce
Barnhart. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and one
great-grandson. Michael was born on December 12, 1931
to Victoria Sandoval and was raised in the arms of his
Tucson pioneer family, the Gallegos. As a child, he
attended military school in California, Roskruge and
Tucson High School. He served in the Army during the
Korean War and was stationed in Alaska. As a gifted
musician and singer, Michael was a member of one of the
first Mariachi groups in Tucson, "Mariachi Tucsonense". He
recorded albums with the Lalo Robles Orchestra in the
early 60s. He was also the founder and member of the
Club Cuatemoc, a social club for men. In the 70s, Michael
was a business agent for the sheet metal workers. He was
an advisor to Governor Bruce Babbitt on labor issues. In
addition, he worked for United Way and the Arizona Public
Employees Association. He was a talented wood carver
and carpenter. Dear Dad, we will miss your smile! We love
you and may you rest in peace. The family wishes to thank
all who cared for him especially the members of Desert
Dialysis. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday,
February 24, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 601 E.
Ft. Lowell Rd. at 10:00 a.m.
