| Ahern, Francis Thomas Francis Thomas "Stubby" Ahern Born in Windsor, CA, February 16, 1921 and passed peacefully with his loving family by his side on February 3, 2010. Beloved husband and best friend of Lois, who celebrated their 60th anniversary together in September 2009. Adored father/father-in-law of Chris (Vance) Del Carlo, Cindy (Brendan) Daly, Cathie (Enda) Daly, and Colleen (Michael) Daly. He was the wonderful and loved Poppie to Gabe Del Carlo, Vanessa (Adrian) Del Carlo-Parr, Cody, Olivia, Casey, Christopher, Amber, Sean, Brittany, and Michael Daly. A first-time great-grandfather to Isaac Daly- Hernandez. Stubby graduated from Mission High School. He was a World War II Army Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. Retired from San Francisco Bartender''s Union, he worked many years in Noe Valley and friends in the community have referred to Stubby as "the Mayor of Noe Valley". His love of sports, especially baseball, extended over his entire life. Several articles have been written about his knowledge of the game. He loved his SF Giants and enjoyed many trips to Spring Training. He was the kindest and funniest husband, Dad, Poppie, and friend to us all. Friends may call on Monday after 6:00 p.m. at ST. PAUL''S CHURCH, Church, corner and Valley Streets where the Vigil Service will be offered at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12:00 noon also at St. Paul''s Church. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made Pathways Hospice So. S.F. or St. Paul''s Reservation Fund.
