Miller, Harley C. Jr. Harley C. Miller Jr., 84, Mesa, AZ passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010. He was born June 7, 1925 to Harley C. and Cleola P. Miller in Belmond, Iowa. Survivors include his wife Darlene, Daughter Sandra Dutmers (Earl), Son Steven (Celeste), 7 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren & his 1 surviving Brother, Robert Carson Miller. Harley, a Veteran of World War II, served with honors & received various Decorations in the United States Marine Corp for +/- 4 years with a 34 Month time period in the Pacific fighting in Six (6) major Campaigns: Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Villa La Villa, Bougainville, Guam & Okinawa - - Harley, one of only six (6) Survivors of his Original Unit at the Wars End was then assigned with a number of Recruits to Korea for the Japanese Surrender. After the Military, Harley married Darlene & worked in the Automotive Industry in both Iowa & AZ & took pride in serving his customers along with his community commitment as a Shriner, a member of the Scottish Rite beginning in 1975, & as a past president of the Lions Club in Iowa. Church & Military Gravesite Services were held on January 22, 2010 at the National Memorial Cemetery of AZ. Published in The Arizona Republic on February 7, 2010
