Elvir, Maria Estabana Born in Quesaltepeque, El Salvador to Rafael and Juaquina Hernandez on December 26, 1909. She passed on February 13, 2010 at the age of 100. At age 5 she survived a volcanic eruption in her native town. Maria was a true ''Rosie the Riveter' as she worked in the ship yards in San Francisco during WWII. During the war she worked as a nurse's aid at San Francisco General Hospital where she met her husband. She leaves children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 10 AM at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks. Published in the The Sacramento Bee on February 17, 2010
