Eakes, Frank H. Jan. 9, 1934 - Jan. 21, 2010 Survived by stepfather Arlynn Gates, brother Thomas, sons Phillip (Jennifer), and Steven (Charleen), grandsons Bryce and Stockton, and granddaughters Amber and Madelynn. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Navy and later retired from the State of Calif. division of Roads and Bridges after 39 years of service. Frank's love of travel and Track and Field prompted him to attend all the Olympic games from 1968 to 1996.The other true love in his life was Baseball. He was a local amateur baseball historian, a statistical expert, and a pure and complete fan of all levels and facets of the game. As a former player in the ''years gone by'' downtown sandlot and H.S. games, he shared fond memories of plays, teammates, triumphs, and defeats. Frank's was one of the three members of the local baseball critics trio, which included his friends Bill Sanborn and the late Skeeter Potulny. They enjoyed attending and critiquing thousands of games and players. A special thanks to Mercy ICU, Acute Care 4th floor, Mission Carmichael, and Fair Oaks Estates staffs for the wonderful, supportive care of Frank and his family. A memorial service will be held in his honor at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, Calif., on Thursday, January 28, at 12 Noon with reception to follow.
