Ramsay, Jean Duffey

81 5/31/1928 1/30/2010 Jean Duffey Ramsay, 81, of Naples, Fla.,
and Ocean City, N.J., died Jan. 30, 2010, in Juniper Village (Naples)
due to complications related to Alzheimer's disease. Jean was born
May 31, 1928, in Philadelphia to Joseph and Anna Callahan Duffey.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Duffey Tapp and is
survived by her brother, Rev. Joseph Duffey, OSA of Villanova
University. Jean married Dr. Jack Ramsay May 21, 1949, in Our
Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Philadelphia. Jean graduated
from West Catholic High School in Philadelphia before attending
St. Joseph's College (Pa.), West Chester State University and the
State University of New York at Buffalo. She earned a bachelor's
degree in English (cum laude) from SUNY Buffalo in 1975. She was
a real estate agent, an employment counselor and a volunteer in
schools and community literacy programs. Jean was a loving
spouse and mother of five children. She was a devout Catholic, a
world traveler, an avid reader and an accomplished bridge player.
She loved to socialize and had a large circle of dear friends with
whom she shared many, many wonderful memories. She was fond
of fashion and style, interior design, flower arranging, warm days at
the beach and chocolate. Jean is survived by her devoted husband
of 60 years, Jack Ramsay; and five adoring children and their
spouses, Dr. Susan Dailey (Vincent) of Wilton, Conn.; Dr. John G.
Ramsay (Michele) of Allentown, Pa; Sharon O'Brien (Jim) of
Indianapolis; Christopher Ramsay (Cristina) of Farmington, Conn.;
and Carolyn Ramsay (Andrew Goodman) of Los Angeles. Jean is
also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Dailey McCormack
(Tucker) and Geoff Dailey; Jake, Nick and Luke Ramsay; Shannon,
Jack (Sarah Lee) and Caitlyn O'Brien; Sofia, Tessa and Chloe
Ramsay; Daniel and Olivia Goodman; and her great-grandson,
Thomas McCormack. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, in St. William Catholic
Church, 750 Seagate Drive, Naples, Fla. Inurnment will be private.
