Deyo, Donald G. Donald Deyo, 86, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 27, 2010. He was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Catskill, N.Y., and was a 46-year resident of Nevada. Donald enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 during World War II and spent his time on a destroyer and was later a bombardier on a sub-hunter PBY. He hunted U-boats and once said he never knew if he hit a U-boat, but was pretty sure he bombed a whale. Donald played semi-pro baseball, and was a policeman for six years in Denver. He fired his pistol only once and shot the finger off a fleeing robber. He retired from a safety shoe company at the Nevada Test Site. Donald is survived by his children, Nancy Myers of Virginia, Paul Deyo of Las Vegas and Joyce Deyo of Arizona; two grandchildren, Bryan Rose and Heidi Myers; one great-grandson, Tyler Rose; sister, Margaret Smith; and niece, Linda Chewens, both of New York. Donald's ashes will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy with a formal military service. Published in Las Vegas Review-Journal on January 31, 2010
