Kinghorn, David David was born on December 11, 1942 in Pocatello, ID and passed away peacefully on May 16, 2010. He was the 5th of 8 children born to Clyde M. Kinghorn and Beth Louise Spillman Kinghorn. David attended High School in Pocatello and graduated from Blackfoot High School. He later earned his college degree from the University of Maryland. David loved women and he married a few of them. He spent many years in Southeast Idaho before moving to Boise in the early 80's. As a youth, David had many jobs and was never without work. He was always a very hard worker and his work ethic was admired by many. He entered the Army in 1966 and sacrificed his entire life for his country. He primarily served overseas with tours in Germany, Korea and Cambodia. His selfless service earned him the rare distinction of a 100% service connected disabled veteran. David was an avid bowler with many 300 games and State Championships to his name. He also enjoyed history, reading and playing chess. He would visit with anyone and could debate with the best. He was a lifetime member of the LDS church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veteran's. David was very proud of his heritage. He spoke often of both his Scottish and Jewish roots as well as his family's descent from Royalty. He had 2 daughters: Carrie Lynn and Margie Ann. He also had a son, Brian, with whom he developed a very special relationship. Through his children, he had 5 grandchildren. He also had numerous nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle David. He had 2 brothers: Bob (Carol) Kinghorn, and Bill (Dart) and 5 sisters: Carol (Dave) Andreason, Lois (John) Norton, Dorothy (Mike Walsh) Waddoups, Dolores Divine and Mary (Bill) Lloyd. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother Bob, sisters Lois and Carol, brothers-in-law John Norton and Dave Andreason, sister-in-law Sharon (Bill) Kinghorn, a granddaughter and a niece. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, May 20, at the Alden- Waggoner Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Tom Warner of the Idaho State Veterans Home officiating. A committal service with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. A viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral chapel.
