Clark, Erna M. of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on December 15, 2009. She was the first baby born on January 1, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio. Erna was the youngest of four children born to William and Dolly Macura. She met and married the love of her life Tom Clark and they had two daughters - Beverly Sawyer and Gloria Demaree. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom and daughter Gloria. Erna and Tom graduated from Hotel Management School at the University Of Houston. Upon coming to Arizona as a young couple, Erna worked at the Camelback Inn in the winter and the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs in the summer. Soon after, she became a hostess in the Concho Room at the Hotel Westward Ho when it was the most luxurious hotel in Phoenix. During this period of her life she also modeled (mainly for Lura Lee Originals squaw dresses). She eventually became involved in apartment management where she managed and owned some of the largest apartment complexes in Phoenix. She became a Real Estate agent and worked in her husband's firm (Tom Clark Realty). She will be dearly missed by her surviving daughter Beverly and son-in-law Ned Sawyer. She was a devoted Grandma to her Grandsons - Derek, Dane, Tod and Travis, and Great Grandchildren - Lauren, Dené, Chloe, Parks, Finn, Peyton and Garrett. Even with her accomplishments, Erna was most proud of her family and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and grams. Erna was a warm, thoughtful, honest and beautiful person. Her family and friends will miss her and love her forever. Even when we know someone has gone to a better place, "good -bye " is always the hardest thing to say. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, December 28 at 11:00 AM at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale, AZ. This will be followed by a luncheon and gathering of family and friends. Erna will be laid to rest, next to her husband and daughter, at 1:30 PM at Paradise Memorial Gardens.
