GENTEMAN, Alice (Age 86) On December 17, the pain Mom has endured for all too long transitioned to a peaceful eternal rest. Alice was born on April 4, 1923, inHavre, Montana to Dorothy and Nels Karlson. In herteen years the family, with brothers Norman, George and sister Evelyn moved to Coeur d'Alene. After completing high school there, she was a beautiful high dive performer for WWII troops stationed at Farragut Naval Training Center. She soon met her lifetime love, Herbert Genteman Sr. and this tough Montana girl and theMissouri cowboy started a family. After briefly working in Seattle they returned to the Spokane Valley for twenty years. Then living in Burien, WA from 1968 until 1998 they again returned to the Valley to be closer to family and Herbert passed away in 2003. Alice is survived by children Herb (Lin), Kathryn (Pete Forsyth), and Mike, along with grandchildren Micah (TJ), Adam (Chelsea), Kian and Ryan, all of Spokane; brother- in-law Norbert Genteman and niece Jude (Bob), Cave Creek, AZ., and niece Judy (Ron) ofSeattle also survive. Special thanks are given for her caregivers Arletta and Ted Kaczmarek of Arletta's Adult Family Home, who have been part of the family since 1998, having cared for Herb Sr. as well. Mom loved a great social gathering, particularly with her sorority friends of Beta Sigma Phi, and cards and bingo absolutely anywhere and anytime. The constant in Mom and Dad's heart and soul, throughout their years in Spokane Valley was St. Mary's Catholic Parish. Any memorials in her honor are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Rd., Spokane Valley. The family has special thanks for Monsignor John Steiner. At Mom's request to only see smiles and hear laughter, no formal services will be held, but celebrations of her life and spirit will continue on.
