BOLLINGER, THELMA ELIZABETH

Dec. 24, 1915 to Dec. 5, 2009 Thelma E. Bollinger, 94,
wife of nearly 60 years of Charles A. Bollinger, died
in the loving care of San Diego Hospice on December 5,
2009, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Thelma was born in Union County, PA. She married young
and was widowed in 1943, after which she raised two
children on her own. In 1950, she married Charles and
had three more children. She was a homemaker much of
her life but worked in several jobs over the years.
Thelma was most proud of her work as a church secretary
at Grace Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, PA. She and
Charles moved to San Diego in 1984. Thelma loved
cooking, crocheting and traveling by car. She also
devoted time to volunteer activities after her
retirement. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran
Church in Encinitas, CA. Thelma is survived by Charles
of Encinitas, CA, her five children, Doris Caris and
Lloyd LaForm of New Columbia, PA, Gary Bollinger of
State College, PA, Julie Jones of Rancho Santa Fe, CA,
and Anne Bosworth of Westerville, OH, five of her seven
grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-
grandchildren. Thelma's ashes will be interred at Fort
Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests donations to either the
Alzheimer's Association San Diego/ Imperial Chapter,
6632 Convoy Ct., San Diego, CA 92111, or San Diego
Hospice, 4311 3rd Ave., San Diego, CA 92103.
