BASHER, Oscar Samuel

Oscar, age 96, went home to be with the Lord on
December 8, 2009. Born May 21, 1913 in Wilkes-Barre,
PA to Carl and Grace Basher. Preceded in death by his
beloved wife Ethel, to whom he was married for 58
years, and siblings Paul, Chet, Frances and Florence.
Loving father of Von Basher (Diane) of Rocklin and
Mardel Soderstrom of Sacramento. Cherished
grandfather of Ken Marsullo, Alexis Soderstrom, Megan
Slaughter (Jimmy) and Nora Hall (Andy). Great-
grandfather of Anthony, Nicolaus, and Christopher.
After serving our country in World War II, Oscar
devoted his life to teaching middle school in
Sacramento for over 32 years. Known for his gentle
spirit and faith in the Lord, he was a devoted member
of Centennial United Methodist Church for more than
55 years. His commitment to fitness blew everyone
away; he will be fondly remembered by many as the
only 96 year old in the gym. Oscar was an inspiration
to all who knew him and he will be deeply missed.
Viewing will be on Thursday, December 10 11a.m. to
8p.m. Services will be held on Friday, December 11 at
10:00 at East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary, 9189 E.
Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA.
