Brigadier General Gordon B. Cauble, U.S. Army (Ret.) 92, of Tucson, Arizona, died December 3, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Vernette Adell Cedarleaf Cauble. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Wells Cauble; four children, Thomas G. Cauble of Midlothian, VA., Nancy C. Terrill of Richmond, VA., Kenneth D. Cauble of Tucson, Arizona, Kathleen M. Cauble of Great Falls, VA.; nine grandchildren, Arian, Beau and Caley Terrill, Stephanie Cauble, Darren and Matthew Cauble, Ryan Gilliam, and Sarah and Nicholas Matalone; four great-grandchildren, Isis, Charlee, Jackson and Cameron; one niece, Virginia Gordon Sams Muse of Decatur, Georgia; and two nephews, David C. Cauble, Jr., of Mebane, N.C. and David Z. Cauble, III, of LaGrange, Georgia. Gen. Cauble was a mechanical engineering graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He served his country as the Signal Officer of the 29th Infantry Division, going ashore on D-Day, being wounded at St. Lo, and serving through the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of Catalina Foothills Church and Tucson Rotary. His hobby was Corvairs, and he was a Founding Member and Past President of the Tucson Corvair Club. Over the years, he owned as many as 22 Corvairs, one of which was recognized as the Grand Award Winner at the National Corvair Convention. Visitation will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd., on Tuesday, December 8 from 7:00 - 9:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at Catalina Foothills Church, 2150 E. Orange Grove Rd., on Wednesday, December 9 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, with Military Honors. Published in the Tucson Newspapers on December 7, 2009
