Ronnie Lloyd "RL" Sullivan
departed this life on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at his
home in Yuma. He was born August 16, 1941 at the Yuma
County Hospital on Avenue B and was raised in Somerton,
Arizona.
RL attended Somerton Grammar School and graduated from
Yuma Union High School in the class of 1959. At an early
age, RL joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS
Somers.
Prior to founding and operating RL Sullivan Insurance
Agency in 1976, RL thoroughly enjoyed his "Fruit Tramp"
days in the produce business. RL believed in "service
above self" and was one of the founding members of Fort
Yuma Rotary serving as past president and was active in
Rotary for over 30 years as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Two of RL's great loves were fishing the Gulf of
California and hunting the local areas around Yuma.
RL is survived by his wife, Barbara Jan; sons, Johnny
Ray (Diana Jo) and Jason (Jennifer); brothers, Harrison
Brooks (Carolyn), Billy Brooks (Joyce), Walton Brooks
(Patty), and Bobby Brooks (Robbi); four grandchildren
and one great-granddaughter along with numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
RL was preceded in death by his parents, Rayphiel Lee
Sullivan and Dolly Malone Sullivan; brothers, Jerry
Sullivan and Joe Sullivan.
A family graveside service will be held. For all of
those whose lives he touched, a Celebration of Life will
be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at
the home of Ann Stewart, 1948 S. Adobe Point, Yuma, AZ.

The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, that a
donation be made to Hospice of Yuma.
