PACE, Dwight H. (Age 81) Dwight H. Pace was born August 6, 1928 to Hartsel and Mazie Mosher Pace and left us November 13, 2009. His early years were spent in Eastern Colorado, then Denver. Following high school he served four years in the Army, and experienced the Berlin Airlift firsthand as a young officer supervising workers loading planes with supplies to Berlin. A strong believer in lifelong education, Dwight received his BA in Agriculture and later an MEd degree from Colorado State University. Throughout his career he sought opportunities for further learning. His 35-year career with the USDA Cooperative Extension Service included work at CSU, then the University of Missouri, and finally, Washington State University. He was recognized for his considerable skills in community development and leadership development. Upon retirement he spent time in Jordan working on a USAID project, then accepted the opportunity to teach in the Faculty of Management Science MBA program at Prince of Songkla University in Haad Yai, Thailand. While in graduate school at CSU he met and married Lois Winter. In retirement they have been active in the National Active and Retired Federal Employees at the local, state and federal levels. Through their efforts pre-retirement seminars for federal employees continue to be offered on a regular basis in Spokane. Jesus had a special place in Dwight's heart, and through the years Dwight was able to use his leadership and teaching skills for His Lord. He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Elizabeth Hamilton; grandchildren: Michael King, Matthew King, Haley King and Emily King; and great- granddaughter, Mya King, all of Spokane; a sister, Mira Nelson of Fort Worth, TX; and "daughter," Det Whedon of Herndon, VA. His son, Michael Pace, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, November 20, 2009 at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home.
