| Holt, Nathan Nathan Holt, 80, of Mesa, AZ passed away October 15, 2009. He was born June 16, 1929 in Neosho, Missouri to Charlotte and Roy Holt, who he is preceded in death by. He attended school on Joplin, Missouri, and met Alita on a blind date when they were 16. They were married upon high school graduation in 1947. They have three children: Lian Enger (Grady), Charles Holt (Judy), Elise Galante (Joe); eight grandchildren: Celina Shepherd (David), Britte Stumm (Jason), Doug Holt (Jen), Stephanie Holt, Joseph Galante, Eric Enger (Katie), Daniel Galante, and Christina Palacios (Manuel); four great grandchildren: Josue Palacios, Caeley Shepherd, Carianne Holt, Mackenzie Stumm. Nathan graduated from Joplin Jr. College in 1949, from A.S.U. in1951 with a B.S., and a J.D. from U. of A. Law School in 1954. His Master of Divinity degree was from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1978. He practiced law as a trial attorney for 17 years and was a member of the following: Arizona Bar Association, ABOTA (American Board of Trial Advocates), International Council of Insurance Attorneys, Elected to Board of Directors for the Maricopa County Bar Association, Elected to Board of Governors of the Arizona State Bar Association, Admitted to federal Court - Phoenix, Admitted to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals - San Francisco. Nathan became a Christian in 1971 and was very active in the United Methodist programs of Marriage Enrichment, Walk to Emmaus, and Lay Witness. He felt called to the preaching ministry and entered seminary at age 46, where his second year he was elected student body president. He served as a pastor for four United Methodist Churches in Arizona: Williams, Avondale, Flagstaff and Mesa First. Bishop Elias Galvan appointed Nathan as a District Superintendent, based in Las Vegas, where he served from 1993 to 1997. Upon his retirement in 1997 Rev. Jim Bussey invited him to be an associate at Mesa 1st UMC as Minister of Evangelism which he did for 5 years as a Pastor Emeritis. Services will be held October 31m 2009 at 2:00 PM at Mesa 1st UMC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Mesa 1st UMC, 15 E. 1st Ave., Mesa, AZ 85210. Meldrum Mortuary handled the arrangements.
