Audrey Jean (Wilber) MALLORY August 19, 1927 ~ October 4, 2009 Audrey lived her 82 years with tremendous strength of character. She was proud, loyal, fiercely determined, and unfailingly generous with her time and energy. Born in Spokane, WA, her family relocated to Seattle where she attended Ballard High School (Class of '45). She married her high school sweetheart, Marshall Mallory in 1947. They had three children and eventually settled in Bellevue, WA. When the children were old enough, she resumed her studies at the University of Washington, graduating with honors. She worked for the Veteran's Administration, where she was honored for the empathy and energy she devoted to each and every veteran she assisted. At 50 years of age she joined the Peace Corps and spent 2 years in the Marshall Islands, a life changing experience. She volunteered for many organizations over the years, but developed a special fondness for her work at the Humane Society, adopting dogs with limited prospects. Our beloved matriarch, Audrey, is survived by: her sister, Ruth Newell, her children, Michael Mallory, Tenny Mallory-Canning and David Mallory, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A service celebrating Audrey's life: Interfaith Community Church, 1763 NW 62nd Street, Seattle, WA 98107 Sunday, October 11, 3:00-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Humane Society.
