Emil Eger,
92, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, October 9, 2009. He
was born on January 15, 1917 in Yuma.
Emil graduated from Yuma Union High School in 1934. He went on to the
University of Redlands to pursue a degree in Medicine. In 1937, he
worked on the construction of The Imperial Dam & The All American
Canal. In 1940, he met and married Winona Brion, their marriage lasted
69 years.
Emil started his photography business, Emil's Studio, in November of
1945 and continued in that business until July of 2002. Emil's
portraits are cherished memories for hundreds of Yuma families. He
received many awards during his career.
Another love of Emil's was his garden. He would often generously share
his "secret" formula for producing such a beautiful garden. Emil
touched many hearts with his gentle humor and kindness. He will be
greatly missed.
Emil is survived by his wife, Winona; daughter Susan Morse of Mesa,
Arizona; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Emil was preceded in death by his sister, Betty; brother, Frank; son,
Bob Eger of Phoenix; grandson, Rick Eger.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at the First
Presbyterian Church, 598 S. 7th Avenue, on Thursday, October 15, 2009.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Service will begin at 12:30 p.m.
