Roberta J. BENEDICT March 28, 1923 ~ September 20, 2009 Roberta Jane Benedict, age 86, was born to Robert Adams and Doris Alice Kane, the second of two children in Seattle Washington. She was raised in Seattle attended Beacon Hill Grade School, Cleveland High School and Seattle College (Seattle University) where she earned her Nursing Degree on June 1, 1945. She worked in Seattle where she met her husband Laurence A. Benedict. They were engaged in September 1946. They were married at St Peter Catholic Church on June 21, 1947. They moved to West Seattle in 1951 and were part of the Holy Rosary Parish until 1960 when they became founding members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Roberta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to travel. In 1970 she embarked on a five month trip around the world with Larry. Her last trip was to Ireland for an International Belleek Collector's Society convention. She was a long time member of the Belleek Collector's Society and Beta Sigma Phi, a service sorority where she enjoyed many years of fellowship and had achieved lifetime member status. Roberta was an active in parish life at Our Lady of Guadalupe serving as an acolyte and present for daily masses until she became ill. Roberta was a serious genealogist for the Benedict and Adams Family, traveling and researching records that she shared with extended family. Roberta was preceded in death by husband Laurence, and survived by her children: Lawrence Robert (RoseAnn), James (Cathleen), William, Patrick (Debbie), Dorothy, and her grandchildren, John, David, Matthew (Cyra) and Laura. Larry and Roberta helped raise 16 foster children in the 50's and 60's. A Rosary services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 7000 35 Ave SW , Seattle WA. at 7:00 PM Wednesday September 23, 2009. A mass of the resurrection and reception to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday 11:00a.m. September 24, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 7000 35 Avenue SW. Seattle, Wa.
