Alvin Bernard Balis

passed away in Tucson, Arizona on October 5, 2009. Born in
Philadelphia, PA on October 24, 1929, Al was a beloved husband,
father, grandfather, and friend. Al was predeceased by his wife of two
years, Harriet Mae Fuchs just two days earlier. He is survived by his
son, Todd Ian Balis; daughter, Merle Buck; grandchildren, Brittany
Beth Buck, and Amanda Megan Buck. He is also survived by all of
Harriet's children and grandchildren. Al was a unique person with a
story and joke for any situation that put everyone at ease. He made
friends easily wherever he went. He was truly larger than life. He was
an accomplished horseman, having been past-President of the East Coast
Cutting Horse Association, and an avid horse-show exhibitor. He was
also past-President of the East Coast Used Car Dealers Association,
having run the Todd Auto Auctions and M&T Trading in Philadelphia, PA.
Al and Harriet are now together in heaven. A Service will be held for
both of them at Temple Emanuel at 225 N. Country Club Road in Tucson
at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009.
