Joy Wolf

November 14, 1921 - August 11, 2009 Joy Wolf, 87 years young,
died suddenly at home in Rio Rico, Arizona on August 11, 2009
while working at her computer. No doubt she was reading emails
from her many friends. Joy Frederica Teufert was a native
Arizonan, born on November 14, 1921 to parents John and Mabel
Teufert. Joy graduated from Northern Arizona Teacher's College,
and moved to Nogales for her first teaching job. She soon met and
married Nogales produce broker Harry Wolf. Harry preceded her in
death in 1982. She is survived by daughter, Adah Leah Wolf and
son-in-law, Duane Brown of McKinney, Texas, as well as nephew,
Don Wolf and wife, Ana Wolf of Sierra Vista, and nephew, Alan
Wolf of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Joy the artist began her art works
as early as the second grade, when one of her sketches was
published in a magazine. She left a legacy of creations in many
mediums including oil and watercolor paintings, fiber art,
ceramics, and collages. An exhibition of her artwork was shown at
the Hilltop Art Gallery in Nogales in celebration of her 80th
birthday. Joy was a creative and dedicated elementary school
teacher for 25 years in Nogales, and was nominated for Arizona
Teacher of the Year in 1973. Joy was active in many service
organizations, including serving as President of the Nogales
Women's Club, and serving on the board of the Nogales Public
Library. She had a passion for travel, Southwestern Indian
culture, and adventures of many kinds. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests memorial donations be made to the Hilltop Art
Gallery, Box 533, Nogales, AZ 85628. A Celebration of Joy
Memorial Service will be held at the Rio Rico Community Center on
Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. (391 Avenida Coatimundi).
