PHYLLIS SCHOFIELD

Phyllis Elaine Hollingshead Schofield, 86, of Pleasant Grove,
Utah, passed away Aug. 6, 2009. She was born Aug. 8, 1922, in
Miami, Ariz., to Estella Marie Edwards and Clem Franklin
Hollingshead. She was the fifth of eight children. Elaine lived
in Miami through the eighth grade. Her family later moved to
Phoenix, where she graduated from Phoenix Union High School in
1940. Elaine had a great love of music and enjoyed singing,
dancing, gymnastics, acting, writing poetry and news articles.
She worked as a secretary for many years. Elaine was active in
the LDS church all of her life and served faithfully in various
callings. She also worked in the Las Vegas and Mt. Timpanogos,
Utah Temples. Elaine was married to David "Udell" Schofield for
43 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Udell; son,
Tym Schofield; and two granddaughters, Jessica and Brittney
Schofield. Elaine had seven children, six of whom are still
living, Lenaire Grigsby of Wailuku, Hawaii, Rock D. (Debbie)
Schofield of Las Vegas, Jennie L. (Wes) Horlacher of Seal Beach,
Calif., Lance "Tym" (Eva) Schofield of Las Vegas, Tauna M. (B.J.)
Faulkner of Henderson, Joseph M. (Jane) Schofield of Pleasant
Grove, and Kari S. VanRoekel of Caliente. She is also survived by
one sister, Elsie Bates Jennette of Moline, Kan.;
daughter-in-law, Eva Schofield of Las Vegas; 29 grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; and many loving extended family. Viewing
will be from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, with funeral
services following at 2 p.m., both in the Battle Creek 3rd Ward
building, 1222 E. Nathaniel Drive, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062.
Private graveside service will be at the Southern Nevada Veterans
Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City. There will also be a memorial
service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the LDS Sun Valley
Chapel, 5100 Sun Valley Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89122.
