JOHN BISHOP

Our beloved John passed away at 12:51 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1,
2009, following a six-month struggle with cancer. He was born
April 16, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo., and was a 15-year resident
of Nevada. John was passionate about many things, family,
friends, fatherhood, Christian faith, his daughter, Andie's
softball and his pets, to name a few... Quote from John's
daughter, Andie, "My Father knew that I was scared for him when
we found out that he was very sick, so he asked me to help him
fight ...The stronger I was for him, the stronger he could be to
get through what was to come ... At that moment, I realized that
love truly is the one thing that conquers all. Without love, one
does not have the will to live, or to be strong ... Hearing my
Dad say these things made me feel worth something ... His
weakness had now become my strength!" ... From that day on, I had
a new purpose. I was going to succeed not only for myself, but
for the most important person in my life, My Dad! It's never
enough to have someone be your Number 1 Fan. Proving to him and
everybody else that he has a reason to be proud of me is what
matters most. That night I made a promise to him and to myself
... I promised to be the best that I can be and never settle for
anything less. My father, best friend, hero and rock has given me
the tools I need to succeed. Now it's my turn to take them and
use them to become a better person, not only for me, but for my
Dad." Though we are now separated from John, we will be reunited
with him again in Heaven, until then, he is our newest Guardian
Angel and will never leave us. John was the heart and soul of
drums at Canyon Ridge Christian Church. John served his church
faithfully for several years nearly every weekend service. He
loved the Lord and how he was able to serve at Canyon Ridge. We
will miss him very much! John is survived by his wife, Donna, of
21 years; daughter, Andrea; father, Howard; mother, Millie;
sisters, Lynn Wilson, Dawn Fisher and Karrie Nelsen; and brother,
Bryan Fisher. Private services will be 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14.
