Anchorage resident Joseph Wayne Capwell,

63, died Aug. 3, 2009, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A
visitation will at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with a service at noon, at
Witzleben Legacy Funeral Home, 1707 South Bragaw St. A burial
will be afterward at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jesse Cortez, Robert Yerkes, Leroy Nicholson, Jim
Robinson and Craig Maines. Joseph was born May 29, 1946, in
Sayre, Pa. His hobbies included collecting model cars, working on
electronics, building things of all sorts, and watching
professional wrestling. His family wrote, "He was a loving father
and grandfather, always a cheerful and understanding man. A good
friend, and a loving and compassionate person." He is survived by
daughters, Bonita Sue Capwell of Chicago and Jody Marie Cortez of
Anchorage; son-in-law, Jesse Cortez; brother, Robert Hon of
Anchorage; grandchildren, Craig Maines of New York, Christopher
Arthur of Virginia Beach, Leroy Nicholson, Julia Robinson, Kyle
Robinson, Sean Capwell, Robert Cook, Christopher Capwell, Robert
Cook, Christopher Capwell, Isiah Cortez and Jessie Cortez, all of
Anchorage; great-grandchildren, Mercedes Maines of New York,
George Retes of Anchorage' and his best friend, Robert Yerkes of
Anchorage, and numerous extended family. Arrangements were
handled by Witzleben Legacy Funeral Home and Crematory.
