Atencio, Mary K.

Born on July 19, 1944 in Fowler, CA, passed away on
April 23, 2010, at the age of 65, after a long
courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her
loving family. She will be deeply missed by her loving
husband of 43 years, Tony; her three sons, Craig,
Ph.D., Mark (Jen), and Michael (Janelle); and her
brother, Marty Fodor. Her two grand- children,
Ashlyn and Owen, were a source of joy. Graduated
from Fowler High School, Fresno State College
(Business Education, selected as the outstanding
graduating student), and from the University of La
Verne (Master's Degree). She was a respected and
admired teacher and Vice Principal in the San Juan
Unified School District for 31 years. Mary loved to
travel with family and friends, particularly enjoying
trips to Alaska, Yellowstone, and Scandinavia among
others. She cherished her friendships with all of her
friends, including the ''Fowler Sisters'', the investment
groups, her ''garage buddies'', the sports teams, the
Compass Rose Group Homes, and all the dear friends
she made in the school district. Her sons were all
active in sports and she was the Team Mom to
everyone. She met Tony at Fresno State College and
they married In 1966. Momma will be placed to rest
at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park in Citrus Heights. CA.
She was beautiful and caring and showed us all what
unconditional love really was. A Celebration of Life
will be held on May 22, 2010 from 12 to 4 at the
Citrus Heights Community Center, 6300 Fountain
Square Drive, Citrus Heights, CA.
