Dick, Steven Standlee Sr.

Mr. Steven Standlee Dick Sr., passed July 20, 2009 in Durango, CO
of cancer. Born in Yuma, AZ on October 18, 1950, the son of
Maxine McCain Dick and Samuel Dick III, he spent his last time in
Durango, surrounded by family at their Falls Creek Ranch cabin,
which he referred to as "paradise"; a place of solace where he
relaxed with his mother, wife and sons. He attended Crane
Elementary and Kofa High School, Yuma Valley, AZ, Northern
Arizona University, BA, 1970, and Arizona State University, MBA,
1972. Steven was first married to Linda Lakey and divorced after
18 years and four children. His second marriage to his soul mate,
Joan Heil, happened after 13 joyous years together, on November
23, 2004 at the Four Seasons Peninsula, Costa Rica. Steven was
founder and President of Micon Consulting for 23 years. He was an
expert adviser to senior executives in the utility and public
sector industries. He transformed the industry approach to
business case development for large scale software system
replacement. Prior to forming Micon, he was an Executive with
Arthur Anderson for 11 years. He was a passionate family man and
entrepreneur; an encouraging facilitator, fulfilling the dreams
of his and others. He had an incredible work ethic, and he
demonstrated genuine love and generosity to those with which he
shared his life. He derived these traits from growing up in a
Yuma Valley family farming legacy, and he demonstrated them in
all facets of his life. He was a skilled farmer and athlete, an
unconditional father, a loving husband, astute businessman, and
faithful friend. Steven was preceded in death by his Father,
Samuel Dick III, Brother, Samuel Dick II, and two of his four
Sons, Kyle Benjamin Dick and Alexander Patrick McCain. He is
survived by his Mother, Maxine McCain Dick, Wife Joan Heil, Sons
Steven Dick Jr. and Taylor McCain, Sister Lille Whitley and her
husband Dwight "Skip" Whitley, Grandson Alexander McCain Jr., as
well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.
