POST, ELIZABETH TROMPAS Fighting to the end to regain her active, independent lifestyle, on July 8, 2009, at the age of 92, Elizabeth Post passed away due to complications from a stroke and heart attack. She will forever be beside her beloved husband of over 50 years, Harry Post, at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Their marriage began with a 14 day hike at Yosemite National Park and they were inseparable ever after. Among her many talents, she was an accomplished swimmer, pianist, golfer. She swam with the legendary Florence Chadwick in San Diego, and swam in Billy Rose's Aquacade on Treasure Island during the World's Fair. She continued regular ocean swimming into her 90's. Elizabeth was a native of San Diego and remained a resident of San Diego most of her life. She was for many years a Docent for the San Diego Museum of Art. But it is her independence and zest for life for which she will be remembered most. For example, while attending Stanford University, she gained recognition as the first woman to have the temerity to ride a bicycle on the Stanford campus. She continued to enjoy an active, exciting lifestyle until her stroke three months ago. As the last surviving child of Gregory Trompas and Marie Geck, she is survived by her two children, Gregory Post and Paulette Goodrich; three grandchildren (Justin Post, Juliette Goodrich, and Jacqueline Goodrich); and five great-grandchildren (Taylor, Kendall, Cameron, Abigail, and Jake). Her desire was that there be no services, but to inspire others to seize opportunities to enjoy life to the fullest. Her spirit and enthusiasm will be dearly missed by family and her many friends and acquaintances. Published in the San Diego Union-Tribune on 7/25/2009
