EDWARDS, Harold "Hal" (Age 75) Passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August, 4, 2009 at Spokane Valley, WA. Hal was born on January 5, 1934 at Meedock, Missouri to William and Ada (Walls) Edwards. Hal graduated from Mullan High School where he played football on the State Championship team class of 1952. He married Joan Platt in 1972 at Spokane, WA and they were married for 36 years. Hal loved to travel, mountain bike and most outdoor activities spending time with his family. He especially loved to ski. Hal was one of the first ski instructors at Schweitzer and also instructed at Mt. Spokane, Silver Mountain (Jack Ass Mountain) and Look Out Pass where he was an active member of the 70's plus ski club. Hal owned and operated Hal Edwards Insurance Company for many years in Spokane. He is survived by his wife Joan Edwards, Sons, Dan Edwards, Spokane, WA, Greg and his wife Laura Triber, Spokane, WA Del Triber, Atlanta Georgia, and daughter Julie Cook, Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by a sister Lila Matthews, Caldwell, ID, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Hal was preceded in death by a son Eddie Edwards in 1990 and a brother Clifford Hunt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 10, 2009 in the Colonial Chapel at HAZEN & JAEGER VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. Pines Rd. Spokane Valley, WA. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2009 from Noon - 5 P.M. A private inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Published on 8/8/2009 Spokesman-Review
