JACKSON, Clark B. Clark B. Jackson passed away peacefully on July 30, 2009, in Carmichael, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Gladys Jackson, his sister Francis and his wife Romaine. Clark is survived by his partner Elizabeth Moniz and his son Alan (wife Laurie), grandchildren Leigh, Matthew and Erin. Clark was born in Garnett, Kan., on March 29, 1921, and graduated from Garnett High School. The grandchildren loved the stories of his teenage years when he would ride the rails and hitch hike around the country. A favourite was missing school to attend the 1939 Rose Bowl game. Upon his return, a school assembly was called at which he was required to give an account of his trip. During WWII he served in the 8th Air Force as a 1Lt bombardier on B-17s flying out of England. His aircraft was one of 60 shot down on Black Thursday, Oct. 14, 1943. He was a POW at Stalag Luft III (The Great Escape) until the advancing Russian Army forced the camp to evacuate during the worst winter in 20 years. After the war Clark lost Alan's mother in an automobile accident but continued on and graduated from Kansas University with a B.A. in Business. A short time later he moved to Sacramento where he spent the next 50 years in the accounting field. Clark loved to dance and play cards and was a member of many groups. He attended Fremont Presbyterian Church. It is with joy that we remember his life and good times. In memory of Clark dance, hold hands or take a walk with someone you love and count your blessings. No services are planned. Published in the The Sacramento Bee on 8/4/2009
